e-sports as mass sports
Martin Müller, born 1983, is chairman and founding member of the "Magdeburg eSports e.V.". He has been employed in a medium-sized, family-owned company since completing his course of study in civil engineering. The connection with gaming has existed since 1987, and began with games like "Space Invaders". His love for eSports developed in the 2000s as the result of regular LAN parties, as well as of playing classic games like "StarCraft" and "Counter-Strike". For several years now he has been active in event organisation for eSports and has been the chairman of the association since its founding. The "Magdeburg eSports e.V." is committed to the spread and promotion of eSports in and around Magdeburg, and at the moment consists of more than 130 association members. Its focus is on the development of a local eSports community and a mass (e)sports association following the model of classic sports associations. Martin is also active in the network of local eSports organisations.
